12-Year-Old Loses Eyesight Due to Alleged Abuse in Jigawa

A disturbing incident has been reported in Sara town, Jigawa State, where a 12-year-old boy, Aliyu Ibrahim (Haidar), allegedly lost his eyesight due to severe abuse by his stepmother in Sara Town of Gwaram local govt area of Jigawa state. According to eyewitnesses, the stepmother reportedly poured salt and paper into the child’s eyes and burned his feet with fire.
The human rights organization intervened and reported the case to the Sara Police division. Although the stepmother is currently at large, the father, Malam Ibrahim, was arrested in connection with the alleged crime.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Jigawa Police command, Mr. Shisu, confirmed the incident and stated that the investigation is ongoing. The police are working to apprehend the stepmother and determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged abuse.
