In a bold move that underscores the democratic process within the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Charles Udeogaranya, a former presidential aspirant in the 2019 elections, has thrown his hat into the ring for the 2027 presidential race. This declaration comes hot on the heels of the party’s recent National Summit in Abuja, where President Bola Tinubu received a significant endorsement from the party leadership, governors, and National Assembly lawmakers.

Udeogaranya’s statement, laced with conviction and a deep understanding of democratic principles, unequivocally rejects the notion of an automatic ticket for any aspirant, including Tinubu. “There is no preferential treatment or room for automatic ticket for the 2027 presidential aspirants,” he asserted, emphasizing that consensus is not a viable option in addressing Nigeria’s myriad challenges.

Drawing inspiration from the bedrock of democracy, Udeogaranya referenced the iconic declarations of Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Martin Luther King Jr., underscoring the universality of democratic ideals. “This democracy birthed by Thomas Jefferson… will not fail in Nigeria,” he declared, highlighting the need for leadership that embodies creativity, nationalism, and prosperity for all Nigerians.

With an unwavering commitment to his vision for a better Nigeria, Udeogaranya announced his candidacy on the APC platform. “I will contest Nigeria’s Presidency… to bring about a better Nigeria anchored on creativity, nationalism, and prosperity for all Nigerians.” His words resonate with a determination to tackle the pressing issues of economic quagmire, insecurity, nepotism, and cluelessness that have plagued the nation.

As the political landscape of Nigeria continues to evolve, Udeogaranya’s declaration sets the stage for a potentially fierce contest within the APC. With his sights set firmly on the presidency, the APC chieftain’s ambition is poised to shape the discourse around the party’s leadership and Nigeria’s future.
