Kano, Nigeria – A coalition of 92 registered Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Kano State has extended warm congratulations to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on receiving the prestigious Leadership Newspaper “Governor of the Year-2024” award. The CSOs, under the banner of the Kano State Patriotic Civil Society Coalition, lauded the governor’s “outstanding performance” in driving development across various sectors, particularly education, during his first two years in office.

In a letter addressed to Governor Yusuf through the Secretary to the State Government, the coalition expressed its pride in being associated with his “modest achievement.” The letter, signed by Hassan Ibrahim Gama and Mustapha Muhammed Chiroma, emphasized the governor’s commitment to peace and the people of Kano State.

“As Civil Society Development Advocates, we are deeply impressed by Governor Yusuf’s dedication to improving the lives of Kano citizens,” stated Hassan Ibrahim Gama. “His focus on education, infrastructure, and social welfare has resonated strongly with the people, and this award is a testament to his impactful leadership.”

Kano State, a historically significant commercial and cultural hub in Northern Nigeria, has witnessed a renewed focus on development under Governor Yusuf’s administration. The state, grappling with challenges such as poverty, education disparities, and infrastructural deficits, has seen significant investments in key sectors. The Governor’s focus on education is particularly timely. Kano State has a large population of young people, and investing in education is critical for the states future.

“We believe that by working together, we can complement Governor Yusuf’s efforts to build a better Kano for all,” added Mustapha Muhammed Chiroma. “The CSOs in Kano State are committed to partnering with the government to ensure sustainable development and progress.”

The CSOs’ endorsement of Governor Yusuf’s award underscores the growing recognition of his administration’s efforts to address the state’s pressing needs. His focus on education aligns with the need to boost human capital in the region.

The coalition concluded its letter with expressions of goodwill, stating, “Long Live Kano Civil Society! Long Live Kano State Government! Long Live Nigeria!”
