CHILDREN AND THE INTERNET: A CALL FOR PARENTAL VIGILANCE BY COMRADE MIKEAL INNOCENT
The internet has become an integral part of modern life, with an increasing number of children and teenagers using it for entertainment, education, and socialization. However, this exposure also poses unprecedented risks, making constant parental supervision and control crucial.
While children are tech-savvy, parents and guardians must also be aware of the potential dangers lurking online. Failure to do so can lead to cybercrime victimization and moral decadence.
One of the most significant threats is online child grooming, where pedophiles search, identify, engage, and manipulate teenagers for sexual exploitation. This can lead to brainwashing, influencing victims to adopt abnormal behaviors as normal. Furthermore, victims of child grooming are often recruited for online child pornography.
It is essential for parents and guardians to be proactive in monitoring their children’s online activities, setting boundaries, and educating them about the potential risks. By doing so, we can harness the benefits of the internet while ensuring our children’s safety and well-being.
