BREAKING NEWS: NLC PRESIDENT, JOE AJAERO, RETURNS TO LABOUR HOUSE AFTER HONOURING POLICE INVITATION

Abuja, Nigeria – August 29, 2024 – Comrade Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has returned to the Labour House, the headquarters of the NLC, after honouring the police invitation at the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) office of the Nigeria Police Force this morning.
Ajaero, who was accompanied by human rights lawyer Femi Falana SAN, arrived at the IRT office at approximately 10:20 a.m. and spent several hours responding to questions from the police.
The police invitation was related to allegations of terrorism financing, cybercrime, and other related offences, which the NLC has described as “baseless” and “mischievous”.
With Ajaero’s return to the Labour House, the labour movement and civil society are breathing a sigh of relief, as fears of possible intimidation or harassment have been allayed.
The NLC has vowed to continue its advocacy for workers’ rights and good governance, undeterred by the police invitation.
