Abuja, Nigeria (September 1, 2024) – The Road Accident Prevention Network Center (RAPNEC NG) is calling for a state of emergency on Nigerian highways following a surge in terrorist activities targeting travelers and motorists.
Alarming Rise in Kidnappings: RAPNEC NG, a concerned citizens’ group, expressed deep concern about the recent rise in kidnappings and abductions on Nigerian highways. These terrorist attacks have created a climate of fear and pose a significant threat to public safety.
Quote: “The safety of Nigerians on our highways is paramount,” said Prince Ogu, President of RAPNEC NG. “We urge the Federal Government to take immediate and decisive action to address this growing menace.” (Strengthens message with a direct quote)
Demands for Action: RAPNEC NG is demanding a four-pronged approach from the Federal Government:
Declare a State of Emergency: This would allow for the mobilization of additional resources and expedite security measures to combat the terrorist threat.
Enhance Security Presence: Increased patrols and strategic deployment of security forces are crucial to deter attacks and ensure the safety of travelers.
Support for Victims: Victims of these heinous crimes and their families require adequate support, including access to medical care, counseling, and financial assistance.
Implement an Intelligent Transport System (ITS): Investing in an ITS would provide real-time monitoring, improve response times, and enable data-driven decision-making for enhanced road safety and security.
Benefits of ITS: RAPNEC NG emphasizes that an ITS would offer significant advantages:
Real-time tracking of vehicles and passengers
Automated incident detection and response
Enhanced surveillance and monitoring capabilities
Data analysis for predictive policing
Call to Action: RAPNEC NG urges all Nigerians to join their call for action. A safer and more secure transportation network is essential for the well-being of the nation.

Nigerians home and abroad need to join hands with RAPNEC NG to urge the current government pilots to take swift actions against the Kidnappings in our highways which sometimes as a result of bad roads. Nigerians deserve good transportation network of roads. Let our monies from subsidy be used to address the precariousness.
The Nigeria Govt should act fast about it . They should save the life of innocent ones..Life is just one not two
