Independent Hajj Reporters Recognize Excellence at 15th Annual Awards Ceremony

Abuja, Nigeria – September 5, 2024 – The Independent Hajj Reporters (IHR), a leading voice in Nigerian Hajj operations, celebrated 15 years of service yesterday, September 4th, 2024, with a prestigious award ceremony held at the Abuja National Mosque Auditorium.
For a decade and a half, the IHR has played a vital role in independently assessing and recognizing the efforts of state pilgrim welfare boards, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), and key officials who contribute to a smooth and successful Hajj experience for Nigerian pilgrims.
Award Highlights:
- NAHCON and NSCDC Recognized: NAHCON secured two awards in recognition of their overall performance. Additionally, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) was commended for its role in ensuring pilgrim safety.
- State Boards Shine: Several state pilgrim welfare boards received well-deserved recognition, including Kano, Adamawa, Bauchi, Kaduna, Plateau, and Edo. These awards highlight their dedication to providing excellent services for their pilgrims.
- Gubernatorial Recognition: The commitment of governors from Plateau, Bauchi, Oyo, and Jigawa states to supporting successful Hajj experiences for their citizens was acknowledged through awards presented at the ceremony.
Leadership by Example:
Sheikh Bala Lau, National Chairman Jama’atul Izalatul Bid’ah Wa Iqamatul Sunnah (JIBWIS) Nigeria, served as the Chief Host for the event. In his absence, Sheikh Mallam Tajuddeen ably represented him, underscoring the importance of leadership and collaboration in ensuring a successful Hajj pilgrimage.
