Jigawa State Executive Council Approves Billions for Infrastructure Projects

Dutse, Jigawa State (September 10, 2024) – The Jigawa State Executive Council, chaired by Governor Umar A. Namadi, has approved a significant amount of funding for various infrastructure projects across the state.
Road Construction and Rehabilitation
The council has allocated a substantial sum of N300 billion for the construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance of 45 roads spanning a total of 835 kilometers. This ambitious project aims to improve connectivity and accessibility within the state.
Advance Payment for Contractors
To expedite the commencement of these road projects, the council has approved an advance payment of N30 billion to the respective contractors. This payment is secured by a perpetual advance payment guarantee from reputable banks.
List of Roads for Construction
The approved roads include major routes connecting various towns and villages in Jigawa State. Some of the key projects include:
Construction of new roads in remote areas to improve access to essential services
Rehabilitation of existing roads to enhance safety and efficiency
Upgrades to major highways to support economic development
Education Infrastructure
The council has also allocated funds for the renovation of 42 senior secondary schools across the state. This initiative aims to provide students with improved learning environments and facilities.
Healthcare Expansion
In addition, the council has approved funding for the construction of new general hospitals in Kafin Hausa and Ringim. This expansion of healthcare infrastructure will improve access to medical services for residents of these regions.
Solar Power Projects
To promote sustainable energy, the council has approved funding for the conversion of motorized water supply schemes to solar power in 27 small towns. This initiative will reduce reliance on fossil fuels and improve access to clean water.
Governor Namadi expressed his commitment to delivering these projects promptly and efficiently to enhance the quality of life for Jigawa State residents.
