Jigawa Police Arrest Armed Robbery Suspects, Recover Motorcycle

Dutse, Jigawa State (September 10, 2024) – The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with an armed robbery incident that occurred on September 2, 2024. The suspects, Sanusi Usman, Amir Musa, and Yasir Yusuf, were apprehended following a diligent investigation by the Dutse Division patrol team.
According to the police report, the suspects intercepted a cyclist, Suleman Umar, on September 2, demanding that he drive them to a high-brow area in Dutse. Upon reaching their destination, the suspects threatened Umar with knives, forcefully took his motorcycle, and fled to Kano State.
Acting on the victim’s report, the police team swiftly responded, leading to the arrest of Sanusi Usman and the recovery of the stolen motorcycle. During interrogation, Usman admitted to his involvement in the robbery and implicated his accomplices, Amir Musa and Yasir Yusuf.
The suspects were subsequently arrested, and their investigation revealed a pattern of similar crimes in Dutse and Shuwarin town. The police are currently preparing to charge the suspects to court.
Tragedy Strikes in Birnin Kudu
In a separate incident, a tragic collapse occurred in Birnin Kudu, Jigawa State, on September 9. A room in a residential house collapsed, resulting in the deaths of three children and injuries to four others.
The victims, identified as Khalifa Ahmad, Tijjani Ahmad, and Rabiu Ahmad, were all aged 12 and 13. The injured survivors were rushed to Birnin Kudu General Hospital for medical treatment.
The police, in collaboration with local residents, conducted a rescue operation to recover the bodies of the deceased children. The victims were later handed over to their families for burial.
The cause of the collapse is currently under investigation.
