His Highness, the Emir of Dutse, Alh. Muhammad Hamim Nuhu Sanusi CFR, has pledged his full support for the World Health Organization’s (WHO) polio vaccination campaign in Jigawa State.
During a visit by a WHO delegation led by Dr. Samuel Bawa, the Emir expressed his commitment to the campaign and emphasized the importance of community engagement in combating the disease. He also highlighted the role of traditional leaders and institutions in promoting public health initiatives.
The Emir’s council members, including the Galadiman Dutse, Wamban Dutse, Dan Malam Dutse, Sa’in Dutse, Barnawa, Jakadan Sulhu, Sarkin Fadar Dutse, and the Magatakarda of Dutse, were also present during the meeting.
The Emir’s support is a major boost to the campaign, as his influence and respect among the community can help ensure widespread participation and acceptance of the vaccination.
Polio, a highly contagious viral disease that can cause paralysis, is a global health concern. While significant progress has been made in eradicating the disease, there is still a risk of outbreaks in areas with low vaccination rates.
The WHO’s visit to the Emir of Dutse underscores the importance of partnerships between public health organizations and local communities. By working together, they can effectively address health challenges and improve the well-being of the population.
Emir of Dutse’s Response:”As traditional leaders and representatives of the Jigawa Council of Chiefs, we are committed to supporting the polio vaccination campaign to protect our people from this devastating disease. We already have ‘Jakadan Lafiya’ Health Ambassadors working tirelessly to raise awareness and promote vaccination. Our council member, who is also involved in this initiative, will coordinate with you to ensure effective collaboration.”
