ICPC Arrests Former Kaduna Finance Commissioner at Lagos Airport
September 17th, 2024

Lagos, Nigeria – September 17, 2024: The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arrested Shizzer Joy Nasara Bada, a former Commissioner of Finance and Accountant General in Kaduna State under Nasir el-Rufai’s administration.
Bada was apprehended at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos on Sunday as she attempted to leave the country. The arrest comes amid growing concerns about potential corruption within the previous Kaduna State government.
The ICPC believes that Bada may have been planning to flee Nigeria to avoid an investigation into allegations of financial mismanagement during el-Rufai’s tenure. Sources close to the government suggest that the commission has been monitoring her movements for some time.
Bada’s arrest is part of a wider crackdown on former officials of the el-Rufai administration. In June, the Kaduna State House of Assembly accused the former governor of misappropriating N423 billion during his time in office. While the specific allegations against Bada remain undisclosed, it is believed that they are related to financial irregularities and potential embezzlement.
The arrest has sparked widespread interest and speculation about the extent of corruption within the previous Kaduna State government. The ICPC is expected to provide more details about the investigation as it progresses.
