Jigawa State Executive Council Approves Billions for Education and Agricultural Development

Dutse, Jigawa State – In a significant move to boost education and agriculture in the state, the Jigawa State Executive Council, chaired by Governor Umar A. Namadi, has approved several contracts and agreements totaling billions of naira.
Education Sector:
School Infrastructure: The council allocated N2.56 billion for the construction, renovation, and sanitation of basic schools across the state’s 27 local government areas (LGAs).
Wind Damage Repair: An additional N1.05 billion was approved to repair primary and junior secondary schools damaged by windstorms in all 27 LGAs.
Agricultural Development:
Tractor and Equipment Purchase: A massive N26.27 billion was earmarked for the purchase of 300 tractors, along with various agricultural implements, to enhance farming efficiency.
Skill Development: N263.16 million was allocated for training 30 master technicians in China to support the agricultural sector.
Youth Employment: The project is expected to create 2,700 jobs initially, with the number increasing as the project progresses.
Collaboration with ICAN: The council also endorsed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the Jigawa State Government and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) to establish an ICAN student special project center in Dutse.
These significant investments demonstrate the state government’s commitment to improving education and agricultural productivity, thereby enhancing the overall development of Jigawa State.
