Gusau, Zamfara State – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Zamfara State Command has vowed to take disciplinary action against an officer arrested for allegedly supplying ammunition and drugs to bandits in the state.
Commandant Sani Mustapha, the state commandant, condemned the officer’s actions and reiterated the NSCDC’s zero-tolerance policy for misconduct. “This act is a betrayal of trust and a disgrace to the corps,” he said during a press briefing.
The arrested officer, identified as ASCII Maikano Sarkin-Tasha, was apprehended by the Zamfara State Police Command. According to preliminary investigations, he was found in possession of a cache of ammunition, including three G3 rifle magazines and one anti-aircraft rifle magazine, as well as suspected drugs.
Mustapha confirmed that the officer had previously been reported for absenteeism from work and had been missing for some time. He emphasized that the officer’s actions were a reflection of his own character and did not represent the values of the NSCDC.
The commandant assured the public that the NSCDC would cooperate with the police to ensure a thorough investigation and prosecution of the case. He also pledged to continue the corps’ efforts to combat crime and maintain discipline among its personnel.
