President Bola Tinubu has pledged to intensify efforts to eradicate banditry and insurgency in Nigeria, aiming to restore peace and boost food production in the country.

Speaking at Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day celebration, Tinubu emphasized his administration’s commitment to tackling the security challenges facing the nation, particularly in the northern region. He highlighted the successes achieved in combating Boko Haram and other armed groups, stating that hundreds of bandits and terrorist commanders have been neutralized within the past year.

“Our gallant troops have neutralized over 300 bandit and Boko Haram commanders in the North East, North West, and other parts of the country,” Tinubu declared. “This decisive action is aimed at creating a safe environment for farmers to return to their lands and boost food production.”

The President expressed optimism that the restoration of security would lead to increased agricultural productivity, thereby addressing the issue of food scarcity and soaring food prices.

“We anticipate a significant increase in food production and a subsequent reduction in food prices,” Tinubu assured. “I assure you that we will not fail in this endeavor.”
