Jigawa State Police Command Tightens Security for Upcoming Local Government Elections

The Jigawa State Police Command has announced stringent security measures to ensure peaceful conduct of the local government elections scheduled for October 5, 2024. Commissioner of Police, AT Abdullahi, urges law-abiding citizens to vote without fear of intimidation or threat.

Security Arrangements

– Deployment of conventional policemen, mobile policemen, explosive ordinance disposal personnel, state intelligence department operatives, and traffic wardens

– Protection of polling units, collation centers, and Jigawa State Independent Electoral Commission (JISIEC) headquarters

– Prohibition of political thuggery and use of dangerous weapons

Restrictions on Vehicular Movement

– Effective from Friday, October 4, 2024, 12:00 am to Saturday, October 5, 2024, 6:00 pm

– Exceptions for essential services, including JISIEC officials, election observers, ambulances, and firefighters

Warning to Political Parties and Supporters

– Adherence to electoral rules and regulations

– No security aids or escorts allowed at polling units and collation centers

Collaboration with Security Agencies

– Joint efforts to identify and prosecute troublemakers and their sponsors
