Minister Badaru Commends 146 Battalion for Improved Security in Bonny

Lagos, Nigeria – October 10, 2024 – The Honorable Minister of Defense, H.E. Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, visited the 146 Battalion (Main) Bonny Island on Thursday to boost the morale of the officers serving under the unit.
During his visit, Minister Badaru praised the battalion’s exceptional performance in safeguarding critical national infrastructure, particularly the Trans Niger Pipelines (TNP). He commended the unit for their success in preventing pipeline vandalism and ensuring the uninterrupted flow of crude oil.
“The successes recorded in protecting the TNP in your area of responsibility demonstrate the excellent work you are doing,” the Minister stated. “The maximum protection of the pipelines under your watch is commendable, and I urge you to sustain it.
“In addition to protecting the TNP, the 146 Battalion has also been instrumental in combating economic sabotage, oil theft, and illegal refineries. Their efforts have contributed significantly to the security and stability of the region.
The Minister’s visit serves as a testament to the government’s commitment to supporting the military in their mission to protect Nigeria’s national interests.
