Hadejia, Jigawa State: The Emir of Hadejia, Alhaji (Dr) Adamu Abubakar Maje, has called on members of the public to refrain from using government registration number plates on their vehicles.

During a courtesy visit by the Taskforce Committee for the Retrieval of Government Official Number Plates, the Emir emphasized the potential for these plates to be used for criminal activities. He urged the committee to implement effective measures to curb the illegal use of government number plates.

Representing the Emir, the Galadima of Hadejia, Alhaji Usman Abdul’aziz, assured the committee of the palace’s support and cooperation.

The committee, led by DC Tijjani Murtala, was established by Governor Malam Umar A Namadi to address the misuse of government number plates. The chairman stressed the importance of retrieving unauthorized plates to enhance security in the state.

DC Tijjani Murtala warned that anyone caught using government number plates illegally would face legal consequences. He highlighted the potential security risks associated with the misuse of these plates, especially in the current challenging security environment.

The committee plans to conduct thorough checks on vehicles marked with Jigawa State government number plates to verify their authenticity and usage.
