JIGAWA EXPLOSION: IGP Mourns Victims, Promises Safety Measures

Abuja, Nigeria – The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic tanker explosion that occurred in Jigawa State on October 15, 2024. The incident claimed the lives of over 100 people and left dozens injured.
In a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP commiserated with the families of the victims and the entire Jigawa State community. He also praised the efforts of police personnel and emergency responders who worked tirelessly to contain the situation.
To prevent future tragedies, the IGP announced plans for intensified safety awareness campaigns to educate the public about the dangers of oil scooping and other hazardous activities. He urged motorists to always adhere to traffic rules and prioritize safety on the roads.
