The All Progressives Congress (APC) Jigawa State Chapter has issued a strong warning against individuals attempting to destabilize the party by targeting state leaders with smear campaigns. In an official statement signed by the State Chairman, Hon. Aminu Sani Gumel, the party addressed recent media reports that it believes are part of a deliberate strategy to incite internal conflict within the APC.
The APC said it has been monitoring “unfounded reports” circulating on social and mainstream media, purportedly aimed at tarnishing the image of prominent party figures. According to the statement, individuals responsible for these attacks include non-members who have allegedly aligned with a “narrow-minded few” within the party, advancing what the APC described as a divisive agenda.
The Jigawa APC reiterated its unwavering support for Governor Malam Umar Namadi and former Governor, now Defence Minister, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar. These two leaders, the statement noted, hold the trust and respect of the party at the highest levels, and the APC is committed to protecting their reputations.
The Jigawa APC will not permit any disruptive elements to create scenarios that might hinder the progress of our administration,” said Hon. Gumel. He specifically referred to a recent report targeting Defence Minister Muhammed Badaru Abubakar, labeling it as a “baseless, sponsored smear campaign.”
The APC called out the unidentified group behind the report, questioning their absence during key election periods. “Where was this group when the Hon. Minister served as the APC North Campaign Coordinator, successfully leading Jigawa State and the region in delivering votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 general elections?” the statement read.
The party pledged to use all legal means to identify and take action against the alleged sponsors of these attacks, emphasizing that such attempts to harm the party’s stability will not be tolerated.
