Vice President Shettima meets with minors recently acquitted and pledges ongoing support for their future

In a significant step toward reconciliation, Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, has officially overseen the release of minors detained following the August EndBadGovernance protests. The release, in compliance with a directive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, reflects the administration’s commitment to supporting youth development and rights.
On Monday, President Tinubu, as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, directed the release of these minors, a move quickly followed by their discharge and acquittal in the Federal High Court, Abuja.
During a brief event at the State House in Abuja, Vice President Shettima expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his commitment to the rights of young Nigerians, thanking him for the directive that facilitated the minors’ freedom. Speaking directly to the minors, Shettima urged them to uphold positive values, pledging that the government will assist in their education and general welfare.
He emphasized that, alongside Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation Chairman Hon. Abubakar Kabir Abubakar, and Engineer Sagir Ibrahim Koki, Representative for Kano Municipal, efforts will be made to ensure the minors’ educational advancement and empowerment.
