Kano State Unveils N549 Billion 2025 Budget, Prioritizing Education and Infrastructure

Kano, Nigeria – Kano State Commissioner for Finance, AKY, today presented the state’s 2025 Fiscal Budget, a substantial N549,160,417,663.00 billion. The budget, if approved, will significantly boost key sectors, particularly education and infrastructure.
A Budgetary Breakdown
The proposed budget allocates:
Capital Expenditure: N312,634,912,672.18 billion
Recurrent Expenditure: N236,525,504,990.82 billion
This translates to a capital-to-recurrent expenditure ratio of 57:43 percent.
Key Sectoral Allocations:
Education: A substantial N168.4 billion (31% of the total budget)
Health: N90.6 billion
Transport: N12.2 billion
Agriculture: N21.03 billion
Water Resources: N27.23 billion
Infrastructure Development: N70.78 billion
Building on Past Successes
The 2025 budget builds on the foundations laid by the 2024 “Budget of Restoration and Transformation,” which allocated N437.3 billion. The 2024 budget achieved a 77% performance in recurrent revenue and 65% in expenditure from January to August 2024.
