Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has presented the proposed 2025 Appropriation Bill of N526.9 billion to the State House of Assembly. The budget, tagged “Transformation and Infrastructural Sustainability Budget,” aims to drive economic growth and development in the state.

✓Recurrent expenditure: N176.3 billion

✓Capital expenditure: N349.4 billion

✓Key Highlights

✓Education Sector: Received the highest allocation of 25%

✓Health Sector: Received a significant allocation, underscoring the government’s commitment to critical development areas

✓Minimum Wage: The budget proposes a new minimum wage of N70,000 for state workers, effective January 2025

✓Capital Projects: The budget allocates 66% of the total budget to capital projects, while 34% is earmarked for recurrent expenditure

The governor expressed gratitude to the civil servants for their support and pledged to strengthen collaboration with security agencies, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders to address recurring security challenges in the state.
