Abuja, Nigeria – The closing ceremony of the 2024 African Military Games (AMGA24) held on Saturday at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, was attended by top dignitaries, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, and Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau.

The African Military Games, a multi-sport event contested by military athletes from African nations, saw 19 countries participate in this year’s competition. Team Nigeria emerged victorious, securing 234 medals across 21 sports, comprising 114 gold, 65 silver, and 45 bronze medals. Algeria and Kenya came second and third, respectively, with 96 and 59 medals.

Highlights of the Ceremony

✓Vice President Kashim Shettima presented the final trophy to the winning team.

✓Governor Babagana Umara Zulum decorated the male and female categories of the 4 X 400 relay sprint athletes.

The successful hosting of AMGA24 underscores Nigeria’s commitment to promoting sports development and regional cooperation among African nations.
