The Jigawa State Agency for the Control of AIDS (SACA) commemorated World AIDS Day 2024 with a rally and visit to the Deputy Governor’s office, Engr. Aminu Usman Gumel. The event aimed to appreciate the state government’s support for HIV/AIDS patients and seek continued collaboration.

Ibrahim Dan-almajiri, Head of SACA, expressed gratitude to the Jigawa State Government, led by Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi FCA, for its tireless support to HIV/AIDS patients. He also acknowledged the contributions of Deputy Governor Engr. Aminu Usman Gumel.

Representatives from Georgetown Global Health Nigeria (GGHN) and the Society for Family Health commended the state government’s commitment to planning a sustainability plan for HIV/AIDS in the state. They sought more collaborative efforts from the government to enhance the welfare and wellbeing of HIV/AIDS patients.

Malam Abubakar, Chairman of the HIV/AIDS Patient Association Jigawa State Chapter, praised Ibrahim Dan-almajiri for his support and guidance, describing him as a “hero” in achieving results.

In response, the state government assured the gathering of its continued commitment to partnering with organizations to support HIV/AIDS patients. The government also announced the inclusion of a budget line in the 2025 proposed budget for SACA activities and medical support for HIV/AIDS patients.

The event was attended by members of the HIV/AIDS Patient Association, civil society members, and media representatives.
