The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has moved swiftly to debunk rumors circulating in the media about the shutdown of the Old Port Harcourt Refinery. According to a press release issued by Olufemi Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd., the refinery is fully operational and has been verified as such by former Group Managing Directors of NNPC.

The NNPC Ltd. emphasized that reports of the refinery’s shutdown are entirely false and are likely the result of misinformation spread by individuals seeking to create artificial scarcity and exploit Nigerians. The company assured the public that preparation for the day’s loading operation is currently underway, indicating that the refinery is functioning normally.

This clarification comes amidst concerns raised by various stakeholders about the potential consequences of the refinery’s shutdown. The NNPC Ltd.’s prompt response aims to alleviate these concerns and reassure the public of the refinery’s operational status.

In a bid to maintain transparency and trust, the NNPC Ltd. has urged the public to disregard any reports suggesting the refinery’s shutdown, reiterating its commitment to ensuring a stable and reliable energy supply.
