In a bid to maintain transparency and integrity within the force, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has issued a stern warning to its officers against misusing the Inspector General of Police’s (IGP) name for extortion and other fraudulent activities ¹. IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun emphasized that any officer found guilty of leveraging his name for such purposes will face severe disciplinary measures.

The IGP expressed concern that these actions not only tarnish his reputation but also that of the Police Force, eroding public trust. He urged officers to uphold transparency and professionalism, as the integrity of the Nigeria Police Force is at stake.

To combat this issue, the IGP encouraged the public to report any attempts to exploit his name for fraudulent activities or extortion, especially during investigations. The public can reach the Nigeria Police via their social media platforms or phone numbers 08057000001, 08057000002, 08057000003, and 07056792065.

This move is part of the NPF’s efforts to restore public trust and ensure accountability within the police ranks. By taking a strong stance against name-dropping and extortion, the IGP aims to maintain the highest standards of integrity within the force.
