Kano State Governor Welcomes Home 150 Postgraduate Scholars from India and Uganda

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has welcomed back 150 beneficiaries of its foreign postgraduate scholarship program, who have completed their master’s degree programs in India and Uganda. The scholars, sponsored by the Kano state government under the 1001 foreign postgraduate scholarship scheme, represent a diverse group of institutions.

✓Breakdown of Scholars by Institution:
1. Sharda University, India: 150 graduates, part of 420 first-class holders
2. Mewar University, India: 98 graduates
3. Symbiosis University, India: 58 graduates
4. Kalinga University, India: 30 graduates
5. SR University, India: 29 graduates
6. Swarnim University, India: 23 graduates
7. Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU): 33 graduates
At a reception held at the Government House, the governor commended the scholars for their hard work, dedication, and outstanding performance. The foreign scholarship program is a key component of the administration’s vision for human capital development.

In a significant move, the governor announced automatic employment for graduates in engineering, medicine, pharmaceutical, and other health-related fields. This decision underscores the administration’s commitment to addressing the shortage of skilled healthcare professionals and improving the state’s healthcare system and infrastructure development.

The Kano State Government Scholarship program fully sponsors indigenes for Master’s programs in specialized fields at universities in India and Uganda. The program is open to recognized indigenes of Kano State who have graduated with a first-class honor degree or equivalent from a reputable university/institution.
