Jigawa State Governor Signs N698 Billion 2025 Budget into Law

In a significant milestone for Jigawa State’s development, Governor Malam Umar Namadi has signed the 2025 appropriation bill into law. The budget, dubbed “Budget of Innovation and Transformation for Greater Jigawa,” totals N698.3 billion and focuses on key sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic empowerment.

The budget allocation includes:
✓Personnel Costs: N90.76 billion, covering the new minimum wage and critical recruitment in education and healthcare sectors
✓Recurrent Expenses: N63.69 billion, including scholarships, feeding programs, and utilities
√Capital Investment: N534.76 billion, representing 76% of the total budget
Notable Projects and Initiatives
Some of the notable projects and initiatives in the budget include:
✓Roads and Infrastructure: Over N148 billion allocated for 46 ongoing road projects
✓Education: N120 billion allocated, with a focus on programs like the Partner-Assisted New Globe Education Digital Learning Project
✓Healthcare: Over N40 billion allocated, including a medical village with a diagnostic and cardiac center, as well as an oxygen plant
✓Economic Empowerment: Over N20 billion allocated for market development, small business support, and revitalizing the Maigatari Export Processing Zone
The Jigawa State House of Assembly passed the budget on December 30, 2024, with the Speaker, Haruna Aliyu, expressing optimism about the budget’s potential to drive development in the state.
