In a groundbreaking move, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced a new initiative that allows students to resit their WASSCE papers as early as January and February 2025. This significant shift from the previous system, where candidates had to wait for the next private exam cycle, aims to provide a faster route for students to improve their grades.

√Key Details of the New Policy:

✓Registration Deadline: Students have until January 8, 2025, to register online through WAEC’s website or at WAEC-accredited internet cafés.

✓Exam Dates: The resit exams will take place from January 24 to February 15, 2025.

✓Eligibility: Students whose results have been cancelled are also eligible to sit the WASSCE PC1 exams, provided they have not been banned for some years for malpractice.

✓Exam Locations: The exams will be conducted in regional capitals due to the limited number of candidates.

√WAEC’s Commitment to Supporting Students:

To aid candidates in their preparations, WAEC plans to expedite the release of chief examiners’ reports, providing detailed feedback on where students may have gone wrong and how they can better approach their studies and the examination process.

With this new initiative, WAEC aims to provide students with a timely opportunity to improve their grades and maintain academic progression, avoiding a year-long delay in their academic progress.
