In a transformative step for economic development, Nigeria launched one of its largest ultramodern fashion manufacturing hubs in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital. The facility is expected to generate over 48,000 new jobs, marking a significant milestone in the country’s drive to boost employment and industrial growth.

As part of the government’s N75 billion support package for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), unconditional grants of ₦300,000 were announced for top-performing MSMEs participating in the 6th Expanded National MSME Clinics programme. This initiative is aimed at empowering small businesses, fostering entrepreneurship, and enhancing economic resilience in the state and beyond.

In a separate move to address power infrastructure challenges, President Muhammadu Buhari commissioned a 15-megavolt-amperes (MVA) injection substation in Maiduguri, built by the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC). This vital facility includes:- A 0.1km 33kV line,- 5km of 11kV distribution lines,- 5km of low-tension (LT) distribution networks, and – Three 500kVA distribution transformers.

This development is expected to significantly improve power supply in Maiduguri, a region previously plagued by widespread outages caused by acts of vandalism. Speaking on the importance of the project, the President urged stakeholders and citizens to prioritize the security and maintenance of critical power infrastructure, highlighting the need for urgent interventions in the sector.

These initiatives underscore the government’s commitment to creating sustainable economic opportunities and improving infrastructure in Northern Nigeria.

The vice President was together with Governor Babagana Umara Zulum and Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje National Chairman of ruling party APC.
