Dutse, Jigawa State, Nigeria – February 6, 2025 – In a significant recognition of his leadership and community service, the Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Muhammad Hamim Nuhu Sanusi CFR, has been appointed Chancellor of Al-Istiqama University in Sumaila, Kano State.

A delegation from the university, led by its proprietor, Senator Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila OFR, presented the appointment letter to the Emir at his palace in Garu. Senator Sumaila explained that the university’s founders chose the Emir for this prestigious role in recognition of his exemplary leadership and the Dutse Emirate’s contributions to Islamic scholarship, particularly in Zakat and Waqf initiatives. He noted the Emir’s commitment to religious advancement and community development, highlighting the long-standing relationship between Dutse and Sumaila.

The Emir expressed his gratitude for the honor and acknowledged the efforts of the university’s leadership. He recalled the vision of the late Emir, Alhaji Dr. Nuhu Muhammad Sanusi CON, for the university to become a leading institution of learning, similar to the prestigious Al-Azhar University in Egypt. He praised the university’s progress and encouraged them to continue their work, particularly in the area of Zakat collection in Kano State, emphasizing its potential for positive impact.

The event was attended by prominent members of the Dutse Emirate Council, including the Galadima, Wamba, Madaki, Sa’i, Dan Masani, Barnawa, Jakadan Sulhu, Marafa, Sarkin Fada, and Magatakardan Dutse, among other palace officials.
