Abuja, Nigeria, February 6, 2025. The National Assembly has submitted a list of 11 nominees to President Bola Tinubu for director positions in the newly established North-West Development Commission. The list includes Asiya Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, daughter of APC National Chairman and former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and the son of Senator Aliyu Wamakko, former Governor of Sokoto State.

Asiya Ganduje is nominated for Director of Community & Rural Development, while Wamakko’s son is slated for Director of Planning, Research, Statistics, and Management Information System.

Other nominees include Khalil Bako (Administration & Human Resources), Mustapha Ahmed Ibrahim (Environmental Protection & Control/Utilities Infrastructural Development), Sanusi Bala Turaki (Finance & Supply), Muhammed Kabir Sani (Legal Services), Malik Anas (Solid Minerals & Agriculture), Alhasan Sidi Suleiman (Commercial & Industrial Development), Ahmed Mohammed (Projects Monitoring & Supervision), and Garba Aminu (Youths & Women Affairs Development).

A letter signed by House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, addressed to President Tinubu, conveyed the nominations. The letter expressed gratitude for the commission’s establishment and emphasized its importance for the North-West region’s development.

This development comes after previous reports of amendments to the North-West Development Commission Act and delays in confirming the chairman nominee, raising questions about the commission’s operational timeline and focus. Public Eye News will continue to monitor developments and provide updates on this important initiative.
