Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has presented the staff of office to the new Shehu of Bama, (Dr) Umar Kyari Umar ElKanemi, at the township stadium in Bama town. This historic event marks the beginning of a new era for the Bama Emirate, following the demise of the previous Shehu, Alhaji (Dr.) Shehu Kyari Ibn Ibrahim ElKanemi, who reigned for 30 years.

Governor Zulum congratulated the new Shehu, expressing confidence in his ability to provide inspired leadership. “We have no doubt that with your pedigree and experience as a leader, you will offer inspired leadership for Bama Emirate,” Zulum stated. He also charged the monarch to unify the people of his emirate, carry all ruling houses along, and remain open to positive contributions from stakeholders.

The governor acknowledged the crucial role traditional rulers play in promoting understanding and peaceful coexistence. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to pursuing policies that improve the quality of life for the people, in line with Borno State’s 25-year Development Framework and 10-year Strategic Transformation Plan.
