A Nation in Mourning: Ijaw People Pay Tribute to a Visionary Leader. The Ijaw Nation Development Group (INDG) joins the entire Ijaw community, the Niger Delta, and Nigeria in mourning the passing of our esteemed leader, elder statesman, and father, Chief (Dr.) Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, CON, OFR.
His departure marks the end of an era, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, wisdom, and relentless advocacy for justice and equality.On behalf of Prof. Prosper Ayawei, President of INDG, Lady Meg Agidee, Vice President, the Executive Management Committee, the Board of Trustees, and all our devoted members, we extend our deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, and all those who revered his extraordinary contributions to our nation.
A Life of Service and Advocacy Chief Edwin Clark was more than a leader; he was a guiding light for the Ijaw people and a fearless advocate for the Niger Delta. His unwavering commitment to justice, resource control, and good governance shaped Nigeria’s socio-political landscape. Throughout his life, he championed the rights of marginalized communities, ensuring that the voices of the oppressed were heard at the highest levels of power.As a father, grandfather, mentor, and statesman, Chief Clark’s impact was deeply personal and profoundly national. His selfless service, political astuteness, and visionary leadership remain an inspiration to generations of leaders and activists striving for a fairer society.
A Legacy That Will Endure, Though we grieve his passing, we also celebrate his indelible legacy. Chief Clark’s ideals, sacrifices, and aspirations for a more just and equitable Nigeria will continue to guide us in our pursuit of development and progress.We pray that the Almighty grants his soul eternal rest and gives his family, the Ijaw Nation, and all who cherished him the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss.
