Nuhu Ribadu Refuses to Engage with Nasir El-Rufai’s Attacks

By Faisal A Harande
In a statement, Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, has declined to respond to recent attacks from Nasir El-Rufai, the immediate past governor of Kaduna State. Ribadu emphasized that his focus is on his current assignment and the success of the President Tinubu administration, rather than engaging in a media fight.
Ribadu noted that despite El-Rufai’s repeated attacks, he has never spoken ill of him publicly, out of respect for their past association and their respective families. He urged the public to disregard El-Rufai’s statements against him.
Setting the Record Straight
Ribadu also clarified that he has never discussed running for president in 2031 with anyone, and his focus is solely on advancing Nigeria’s interests and supporting the President Tinubu administration.
A History of Fractured Friendship
The rift between Ribadu and El-Rufai has been escalating, with reports suggesting that their friendship began to sour around 2010. Despite their shared history and past collaborations, their relationship has deteriorated, with El-Rufai allegedly aligning with opposition figures to challenge Ribadu.
