By Abdulhamid Sani
In a move to support civil servants during the holy month of Ramadan, the executive Governor of Jigawa State Malam Umar A. Namadi has approved a reduction in official working hours for state employees.
This decision, effective immediately, aims to provide civil servants with more time to prepare for the Ramadan break and engage in spiritual activities
New Working Hours:
Monday to Thursday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (reduced by 2 hours from the previous 5:00 PM closing time)
Fridays: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM (unchanged)
According to Alhaji Muhammad K. Dagaceri, the State Head of the Civil Service, this gesture is intended to allow civil servants to pray for God’s guidance and blessings for the state, as well as for peace and economic prosperity for both the state and Nigeria as a whole. This move is not unprecedented, as the Jigawa State Government has made similar adjustments in previous years, including in 2021 and 2024.
