The Kano State Government has constituted a White Paper Drafting Committee to review the recommendations made by the Commission of Inquiry regarding the incidents of violence, destruction, and loss of life that occurred in August last year.

The committee, chaired by Alhaji Dan Asabe Yahaya, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Security and Special Services, Kano, is tasked with thoroughly examining the report and making further recommendations to prevent future occurrences.

During the inaugural session, Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Alhaji Umar Farouq Ibrahim emphasized the importance of the committee’s work, expressing confidence in its members’ expertise to ensure a prompt and appropriate response.

Committee Members:

  • Chairman: Alhaji Dan Asabe Yahaya – Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Internal Security and Special Services, Kano
  • Member: Alhaji Aliyu Yakubu Garo – Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Kano
  • Member: Dr. Hadi Bala – Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Kano
  • Member: Barrister Salisu Marmara – Ministry of Justice, Kano
  • Secretary: Mallam Yahaya Umar – Director, Planning, Research, and Statistics, Kano State Pension Fund Trustee
  • Assistant Secretary: Jamilu Usman – Assistant Secretary II, REPA Directorate, SSG’s Office

The committee’s work is a crucial step towards healing and reconciliation in Kano State, and its recommendations will help shape the government’s response to the incidents.
