In a significant move to actualize President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has collaborated with the National Universities Commission (NUC) to integrate digital literacy into university education. This partnership aims to equip students with essential digital skills, enhance job creation, and position Nigerian graduates for success in the global digital economy.

The Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, and his management team visited the NUC headquarters, where they were warmly received by Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, the newly appointed Executive Secretary of NUC. This renewed partnership seeks to ensure that every Nigerian youth is equipped with the skills to thrive in the evolving digital era.

NITDA’s Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (SRAP 2.0)

NITDA’s SRAP 2.0 vision prioritizes fostering digital literacy and cultivating talent. The agency aims to achieve 70% digital literacy by 2027 and 95% by 2030. To accomplish this, NITDA seeks to make digital literacy a standard requirement in universities, similar to English and Mathematics.

Key Objectives of the Partnership

  • Enhance Digital Literacy: Equip students with critical digital skills to navigate the digital economy effectively.
  • Job Creation: Foster entrepreneurship and job creation through digital literacy and skills development.
  • Global Competitiveness: Position Nigerian graduates for success in the global digital economy.

By collaborating with NUC, NITDA aims to bridge the digital divide and prepare Nigerian youths for the future. This partnership marks a significant milestone in advancing digital skills and promoting Nigeria’s digital economy goals.
