In a daring rescue operation, the Okuru-Ama Community Development Committee (CDC) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt, recovering a 12-year-old girl who was abducted in Eleme. The swift response of local security personnel led to the apprehension of the suspect, who has been handed over to the Nigerian Police.

According to Rowland Ibiewari, Chairman of the Okuru-Ama CDC, the security team launched an immediate investigation upon receiving information about the kidnapping. “We conducted thorough searches and interviews, which led to the identification and apprehension of the suspect,” Ibiewari stated.

The CDC chairman commended the cooperation of residents in uncovering the criminal act and assured the community that security remains a top priority. “We will always take decisive actions to prevent such incidents,” he added.

Residents of Okuru-Ama have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. This incident highlights the importance of community-led security initiatives and the power of collaboration in preventing crime.

In related news, the Rivers police have been active in combating crime in the state, recently capturing a kidnap gang on the Port Harcourt-Owerri Road and recovering a stolen vehicle.
