Yahaya Bello’s Children’s School Fees Paid in Dollars, in Advance-EFCC

By Usman A Harande
A shocking revelation emerged in the trial of former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, as the Third Prosecution Witness, Nicholas Ojehomon, testified that Bello paid his children’s school fees in dollars and in advance until their graduation. Ojehomon, an internal auditor at the American International School, Abuja (AISA), identified Bello’s children as Zayan, Zara, Farid, Na’ima, and Nana Fatima, each admitted in different academic years.
Significant Payments Made
The witness confirmed that substantial sums were paid for each child, including:
- Farid Bello: $90,074
- Zara Bello: $87,470
- Na’ima Bello: $26,241
- Nana Bello: $18,707
These payments were made in advance, with Ali Bello, Yahaya Bello’s cousin, contacting the school in 2021 to arrange for prepaid tuition fees until the children’s graduation.
Prosecution Presents Evidence
The prosecution tendered several documents as evidence, including certified copies of AISA admission letters, contractual agreements, teller copies of payments, and statements of account from TD Bank USA and the American International School. The court admitted these documents as exhibits without objection from the defense counsel.
Trial Adjourned
Justice Emeka Nwite adjourned the matter until Friday, March 7, 2025, for continuation of the trial. The prosecution’s case against Yahaya Bello continues to unfold, with more revelations expected in the coming days.
