FG Grants Licenses for New Refineries as Nigeria’s Petroleum Sector Gets Boost

In a move aimed at increasing local refining capacity, reducing reliance on imported petroleum products, and creating jobs, the Federal Government of Nigeria has granted licenses to several companies to establish new petroleum refineries in the country.
According to reports, the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has issued licenses to nine modular refineries, seven construction licenses, and four operational licenses. This development is expected to pave the way for the construction of new refineries, which will increase Nigeria’s refining capacity.
