Governor Radda’s Pledge to Enhance Agricultural Productivity

In a significant move to boost agricultural productivity and water resources management in Katsina State, Governor Dikko Radda has pledged to revive support for the long-abandoned Sabke Dam Irrigation Project. The project, which was initially conceived in 1998, has been ongoing for over two decades, with the governor’s commitment expected to breathe new life into the initiative.
During an inspection tour of the project site, Governor Radda assured a Federal Government delegation, led by Director General of Budget Dr. Tanimu Yakubu Kurfi, of his administration’s commitment to the project’s success. The governor’s pledge demonstrates his administration’s dedication to revitalizing key infrastructure projects in the state, which is expected to have a positive impact on the local community.
Key Benefits of the Sabke Dam Project
- Enhanced Agricultural Productivity: The project aims to provide irrigation facilities to farmers, boosting agricultural productivity and food security in the region.
- Improved Water Resources Management: The Sabke Dam will provide 31.6 million cubic liters of water per annum to Daura, Mashi, and Dutsi Local Government Areas for domestic use, addressing the region’s water scarcity challenges.
