In a heartwarming gesture, Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has distributed over 450 bags of 25kg rice to various journalist associations within the state. This benevolent act, which took place on Saturday at the Kano Press Centre, aims to alleviate the challenges faced by media professionals during the holy month of Ramadan.

The beneficiaries of this kind gesture include esteemed bodies such as the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), and Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), among others.

Governor Yusuf’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, and the Kano Commissioner of Information, Comrade Abdullahi Wayya, led the distribution event. The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Sulaiman Abdullahi Dederi, expressed his gratitude to Governor Yusuf, stating that this is the first time such a gesture has been extended to all categories of media in the state.

This act of generosity serves as a testament to the administration’s inclusive approach and its recognition of the media’s indispensable role in promoting transparency, accountability, and societal well-being.
