Nigeria, Brazil Revive Strategic Dialogue After Decade-Long Hiatus

Vice President Kashim Shettima chaired a crucial meeting at the Presidential Villa, bringing together key ministers and agency heads to discuss the Brazil-Nigeria Mechanism for Strategic Dialogue. This significant development marks the resumption of talks between the two nations after a decade-long break.

Brazil’s Vice President, Geraldo Alckmin, is set to lead a high-profile delegation to Nigeria for the second session of the dialogue. The visit underscores the growing bilateral ties between the two countries.
In his remarks, Vice President Shettima praised President Bola Tinubu’s visionary leadership, highlighting his bold policies that have put Nigeria on a new growth trajectory. The President’s efforts have created a favorable environment for investments across various sectors.

Shettima emphasized the need for thorough preparations by Nigerian stakeholders, ensuring clarity, strategic coherence, and a deep understanding of the issues on the agenda.
The Defence Minister, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, a seasoned politician and former Governor of Jigawa State, is expected to play a key role in the dialogue. With his experience in governance and economic development, Abubakar will likely provide valuable insights to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Nigeria and Brazil.
