In a significant move to promote regional development, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has donated land for the permanent site of the North-West Development Commission. This gesture underscores the governor’s commitment to advancing infrastructure and socio-economic growth in the North-West region.

The North-West Development Commission aims to address the challenges facing the seven states in the region, including Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Jigawa, Sokoto, and Zamfara. With a budget of over N500 billion, the commission is poised to drive growth and development in the region.

Key Objectives of the North-West Development Commission:

  • Infrastructure Development: Rebuilding roads, medical, educational, social, agricultural, and other infrastructure destroyed by insecurity and environmental challenges.
  • Economic Empowerment: Promoting industrialization, employment, and commerce in the region.
  • Environmental Sustainability: Addressing ecological and environmental problems, such as desertification.
  • Youth Development: Educating and empowering youths to drive regional development.

The establishment of the North-West Development Commission is a landmark achievement, marking a significant step towards addressing the region’s challenges. With the governor’s land donation, the commission is now poised to establish its permanent site and commence operations in earnest.
