Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria – April 11, 2024 – Security forces successfully thwarted an attempted intrusion at the private Maiduguri residence of Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, apprehending a 35-year-old suspect. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, April 9th, at approximately 5:30 AM, has prompted a security review and reinforcement at the location.

According to intelligence sources reported by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert, the suspect, identified as Musa Ibrahim from the Maduganari area of Maiduguri, attempted to scale the perimeter wall of the Vice President’s residence situated in the New GRA, Gwange 3 Ward, off Bama Road.

“The suspect’s attempt to breach the residence via the Gadabul River bank, located behind the western side of the property, was intercepted by alert security personnel,” stated the report published on zagazola.org. “Upon being detected, the suspect tried to flee but was neutralized with a leg injury and subsequently detained.”

Ibrahim was immediately transported to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) for medical treatment, where he is currently receiving care and showing positive signs of recovery. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough and discreet investigation.

In the aftermath of the incident, security protocols at the Vice President’s residence have been reassessed and significantly strengthened to prevent future occurrences. This proactive measure underscores the commitment to ensuring the safety and security of high-profile individuals and their residences.
