Kano State Govt Approves N20.36 Billion for Infrastructure and Public Service Projects

In a significant development, the Kano State Government has approved the release of Twenty billion three hundred and sixty-four million, two hundred and eighty-nine thousand, seven hundred and nine naira, eighty-nine kobo (N20,364,289,709.89) for the execution of key infrastructure and public service projects across the state. This was disclosed at the 2nd Special Executive Council Meeting held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, under the leadership of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf.
The Executive Council approved the revocation and re-award of contracts for the completion of 5-kilometre dualised roads in four Local Government Areas, including Bebeji, Tudun Wada, Garun Mallam, and Madobi. The total cost for these projects amounts to approximately N16 billion. Specifically:
- Bebeji LGA: N3,227,794,465.48
- Tudun Wada LGA: N4,603,280,754.29
- Garun Mallam LGA: N4,047,034,359.38
- Madobi LGA: N4,107,531,687.78
Additionally, the Council approved the award of a contract for the completion of a 5-kilometre dualised road in Tsanyawa LGA at the cost of N3,424,883,490.12.
In a gesture of goodwill, the Executive Council approved the construction of an auditorium hall at the NLC Headquarters along Katsina Road, to be named after the late Governor of Kano State, Alh. Mohammadu Abubakar Rimi. The project is worth N284,551,722.42.
Other Key Approvals
The Council also approved:
- Reconstruction of a burnt masjid and Islamiyya school building in Gezawa LGA at a cost of N151,863,895.97
- General renovation of all offices within the Cabinet Office at a cost of N517,349,334.45
The Executive Council expressed deep sympathy with victims of recent rainstorms and windstorms that affected residents in several parts of the state. A committee has been constituted to assess the extent of the damage and recommend appropriate action.
The Council noted with dismay the alleged vandalization of the abattoir at Zawaciki and approved the constitution of a high-powered committee to investigate and submit recommendations on the appropriate actions. Plans are also underway to construct a modern abattoir to provide more job opportunities and economic activities in the state.
