Tinubu’s Delegation Arrives London to Escort Buhari’s Remains Home for Burial in Daura

In a solemn mission directed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a high-powered delegation has arrived in London this morning to begin arrangements for the repatriation and burial of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away after a brief illness.
Leading the delegation is the Honourable Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, accompanied by a top Presidential aide who confirmed their arrival in the early hours of Monday. The team was warmly received at the London airport by Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, alongside the Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum.
Speaking to Newsmen, the VP stated,
“On the directive of my boss, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I arrived in London alongside the Chief of Staff to the President to coordinate the dignified return of our former leader’s remains. We are here to pay our last respects and accompany him back to his hometown in Daura for burial.”
Preparations are currently underway to fly the late President’s body to Nigeria, where he will be laid to rest in Daura, Katsina State, in accordance with Islamic rites.
President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria’s former Head of State and two-term elected President (2015–2023), died in a London clinic following a brief illness. His passing marks the end of a significant chapter in Nigeria’s contemporary history.
