In a strategic move to combat violent extremism in Nigeria, the North East Youth Initiative for Development (NEYIF) successfully hosted a comprehensive three-day workshop aimed at bolstering the capacity of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Jigawa State. The event took place at the Grand Ambar Palace Hotel and Suites in Dutse, bringing together a diverse group of CSOs as part of the Partnership Against Violent Extremism (PAVE) initiative.

Under the theme “Strengthening Local Leadership and Organizational Resilience for Sustainable Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE) Impact,” the workshop provided participants with essential skills and insights needed to secure funding from government and donor agencies for PCVE initiatives. With a focus on equipping these organizations to effectively address local challenges of violent extremism, the training served as a platform for sharing knowledge and best practices.

Comrade Muhammad Musbahu Basirka, the Jigawa State Coordinator of PAVE, opened the workshop with commendable remarks highlighting NEYIF’s dedication to enhancing PCVE activities across the state. He expressed optimism that the insights gained would enable the participating CSOs to refine their approaches and implement impactful interventions in their communities.

Emphasizing the mission of NEYIF, Comrade Dauda Mohammed Gombe, Executive Director, articulated the organization’s commitment to empowering youth with skills and opportunities. He stressed the critical role CSOs play in promoting enlightenment and advocacy against violent extremism and called on participants to actively engage in fostering peace and stability in their environments.

The workshop also marked a significant step towards inclusivity, with Hon. Adamu Shu’aibu Jigawar Tsada, Chairman of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, expressing gratitude for the participation of individuals with disabilities in the training. This initiative reflects NEYIF’s dedication to inclusive development and the belief that everyone has a role in the fight against violent extremism.

Participants unanimously praised NEYIF for the workshop, expressing their commitment to applying the knowledge and skills acquired to enhance their PCVE efforts. The collaboration fostered during this training aims to empower CSOs in their mission to combat violent extremism, driving sustainable development initiatives throughout Jigawa State.

As NEYIF continues its efforts to strengthen civil society and promote peace, the organization remains at the forefront of enhancing community resilience against violent extremism and fostering a culture of unity and progress.
