Borno State Receives 1 Million Cholera Vaccines from UNICEF and Partners

Maiduguri, Nigeria – The Borno State government has received a total of one million doses of cholera vaccines from UNICEF and its partners to vaccinate residents against cholera. The state’s Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Prof. Baba Mallam, announced this while receiving 669,569 doses of the vaccines in Maiduguri.

The vaccines will be used to vaccinate people in areas of the state that are at high risk of cholera outbreaks. Cholera is a waterborne disease that can cause severe diarrhea and dehydration. It is often spread through contaminated food and water.

The Borno State government is working with UNICEF and its partners to raise awareness about cholera and to promote good hygiene practices. These efforts include providing people with clean water and sanitation facilities.

The Commissioner for Health and Human Services said that the state government is committed to protecting the health of its citizens. He urged people to get vaccinated against cholera and to take precautions to prevent the spread of the disease.
